Spray with a water and conditioner mixture. Fill a spray bottle with 3 parts water, 1 part wig-safe conditioner. Shake well, then apply liberally until the wig is saturated. You may also choose to use a leave-in conditioner, or a product designed specifically for untangling wigs.

Place the wig on a stand before you brush it to retain its shape. Then, brush it with a downward motion, beginning at the bottom of the wig. Brush the bottom section before moving up, dealing with 1 to 1.5-inch sections at a time. By doing so, you decrease stress on any knots and reduce breakage.
